When Ground-Level Just Won’t Do: How a Drone Saved the Shot

In most cases, when shooting a unit, you typically focus on the interior spaces. Occasionally, an agent might request an exterior shot—and in rare instances, that exterior happens to be a high-rise building, as was the case in this shoot.
Upon arriving at the property, I quickly realised that photographing the building from the ground would be extremely difficult—if not impossible.

The building’s height and surrounding structures made it nearly impossible to get a clean, impactful facade shot from street level.

This is where a drone becomes an essential tool.
I initially searched for a suitable ground-level angle, but it was clear the results wouldn’t do the building justice. So I launched the drone, adjusted my framing from the sky, and captured a clean, elevated perspective of the facade.

The difference was immediately obvious—the aerial view gave the building presence and scale that a ground shot simply couldn’t. The agent was thrilled with the result, and it became the hero exterior image for the listing.
This is a great example of how using the right tools—like drone photography—can make all the difference in challenging real estate shoots.
